Default Maradona blames.......everyone, after firing.

Maradona launched his bitter tirade just a day after he was sacked as national team coach.
"Grondona lied to me. Bilardo betrayed me," said Maradona in his first news conference since his colourful and controversial reign as Argentina coach came to an abrupt end of Tuesday
Grondona, in the dressing room after we had been knocked out of the World Cup in South Africa, told me in front of witnesses and the players that he was very happy with my work and that he wanted me to carry on.
"On our return to Argentina, things started to take on a bizarre twist and on Monday I met with Grondona.
"After five minutes, he told me that he wanted me to continue, but that seven of my technical staff could not stay. When he told me this, he was saying that he didn't want me to carry on in the job.
"He knows that it is impossible for me to stay as coach without my colleagues."
Maradona also hit out at Bilardo who was coach of the 1986 World Cup winning team in which Maradona played a starring role.
"When we were in mourning, Bilardo was working in the shadows to get me fired," he said.
Maradona, who took charge of the team in October 2008, has been replaced by national Under-20 coach Sergio Batista.
But that will be a temporary appointment for the August 11 friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

Maradona has got to go.

He Tried, He failed, He's DONE. PERIOD.

Diego, Just STFU and go away....

I'm OK with Batista. He led the team to Olympic Gold in Beijing..

My top choice for NT Coach of Argentina would be Carlos Bianchi.

Actually I'm hoping that this experience (i.e. leading a team to play some of the best football at the World Cup, not being sacked) will be the springboard to doing something better like coaching a team to win the Argentine championship. Unfortunately I can also see that the sacking might lead him to go downhill again. Fingers crossed.

One sign of the intelligent man is the capability to change track when confronted with valid evidence to do so.

Recently, I was presented with evidence that caused me to change my earlier support for Maradona.

That's all.

Make sense..?

Ok, we're curious. What was this evidence?

Different Argentine TV sources calling out that he had made team choices based on who was kissing his arse and personal vendettas instead of tactical decisions based on who was best at their position, both health and talent-wise.

Which would go a way to explain why Aimar, Banega, Zanetti and Cambiasso were out, while Veron, DeMichelis, Gutierrez and Otamendi were in.

And you had to be told that, and recently at that, to realise it? I knew that months ago...

To be fair Veron had a good season in Argentina, but still looked past it - internationally speaking - leading up to the tounie. DeMichelis, Gutierrez and Otamendi are shyte, but the fact that three players of such slender credentials made it to the world cup tells you that there is precious little on offer to replace them. Afer Samuel got injured you only had one decent defender left in Heinze. With that being said leaving Zanetti at home was a criminal mistake that a five year old could have pointed too before the comp began. Likewise Cambiasso who would in the form of his career would have done a far better job of linking the play up than either Veron or Maxi managed to do.
